Breast Augmentation
For the woman who feels her breast size is too small, or not properly contoured, cosmetic breast surgery can be the answer. With a breast augmentation, the surgeon inserts either an implant filled with silicon or an implant filled with saline (salt water) solution to improve the contour and increase the size of the breast.
Implants are placed either under the muscle (submuscularly) or under the existing breast tissue (subglandularly). Patients choose the size implants they want and our staff is available to assist in this important decision.

Breast Lift
Breast lift removes excess skin from the lower part of the breast to raise sagging breasts, thus reshaping and lifting the breast for a more complimentary figure.
Over the years, factors such as pregnancy, nursing, and the force of gravity take their toll on a woman's breasts.
As the skin loses its elasticity, the breasts often lose their shape and firmness and begin to sag. Breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts--at least for a time. (No surgery can permanently delay the effects of gravity.) Mastopexy can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple. If your breasts are small or have lost volume--for example, after pregnancy--breast implants inserted in conjunction with mastopexy can increase both their firmness and their size. If you're considering a breast lift, Dr. Chase can provide you specific information on how he would proceed in your particular situation.

Breast Reduction
For women who desire smaller breasts, Dr. Chase can reduce the size of the breast through the removal of breast tissue, then reshape the smaller breast.
Women with very large, pendulous breasts may experience a variety of medical problems, caused by the excessive weight, from back and neck pain or skin irritation to skeletal deformities and breathing problems.
Bra straps may leave indentations in women's shoulders. Additionally, unusually large breasts can make a woman, or teenage girl, feel extremely self-conscious.
Breast reduction, technically known as reduction mammaplasty, is designed for such women. The procedure removes fat, glandular tissue, and skin from the breasts, making them smaller, lighter, and firmer. It can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple. The goal is to give the woman smaller, better-shaped breasts in proportion with the rest of her body.
After surgery women can participate in activities they only dreamed of before such as jogging, playing tennis or golf. They may now find bras that fit in regular department stores, and have less difficulty in finding tops that fit properly. Most women are extremely delighted with the weight of the breasts gone and the preoperative medical problems improved.
If you're considering breast reduction, Dr. Chase can provide you specific information on how he would proceed in your particular situation.

Body Contouring after Major Weight Loss
Body contouring is suggested after major weight loss when there are unwanted amounts of excess skin which hangs or sags. The operation is the removal of excess skin which thereby tightens the overall appearance of the skin. Areas to be addressed may be breasts, abdomen and trunk, thighs and arms.

Liposuction
Liposuction body sculpting (or suction-assisted lipectomy) has become one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures performed today. Minimal scarring and outstanding results have made it the preferred method for removing fat from the hips, thighs, buttocks and abdomen, as well as areas of the face, neck and arms. Liposuction is not an alternative to weight reduction, but can be very effective in removing fat from areas that do not respond to diet and exercise programs.
Suction-assisted lipectomy is performed by Dr. Chase in an outpatient surgery center. A narrow tube (cannula) is inserted into a small incision made in an inconspicuous place. Dr. Chase then manipulates the cannula, which is connected to a strong vacuum, breaking up fatty areas and suctioning out the fat.
Liposuction can eliminate the excess inches; it is effective and efficient. You will be asked to wear a compression garment while you recover to assist the body in reshaping. Most people are able to do normal activities with in a week or two and can resume full aerobic activities by 4 to 6 weeks after liposuction.

Tummy Tuck
Flattens the abdomen by removing excess fat and skin and tightening the muscles of the abdominal wall. The best candidates for abdominoplasty are men or women who are in relatively good shape but are bothered by a large fat deposit and loose abdominal skin that won't respond to diet or exercise.
The surgery is particularly helpful to women who, through multiple pregnancies, have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond the point where it can return to normal. Often abdominoplasties are performed in conjunction with liposuction.

Mommy Makeover
Once a woman has completed her family she may decide she needs to rejuvenate her body. She may want a breast lift and augmentation and she may like to have her abdomen addressed. She may need abdominoplasty with some liposuctioning. We will try to accomplish these "Mommy Makeovers" to help women feel better about their bodies after the changes from childbirth and nursing. Please feel free to discuss these and other concerns with Dr. Chase.

Face Lift
Environmental factors, stress, and genetics can leave one with an aged appearance. Wrinkled skin can develop on the face, neck or forehead, along with fat deposits and folds around the jaws and jowls. While a facelift can't stop the aging process, in many cases it can "turn back the clock."
Facelifts can be performed alone, or with other cosmetic procedures such as eyelid or forehead surgery. Depending on the area to be treated, facelifts usually involve incisions made along the hairline, which extend around the ears to the lower scalp. The skin is lifted away from the fat and muscle underneath, and excess fat is removed. Then Dr. Chase tightens the remaining tissue, and the skin is then replaced, tightened and secured with sutures or clips.
Swelling and minor discomfort last a few days, and stitches are usually removed within a week.

Brow Lift
Deep furrows on the forehead, frown lines over the eyes, drooping eyebrows and hood-like skin over the eyes are all conditions that can make you look older than you are or feel. Whether age or heredity causes these conditions, a forehead lift (or brow lift) can give you a more youthful, animated and alert appearance.
Forehead lifts may be performed under local anesthesia, supplemented by a mild sedative to keep you relaxed, yet awake. Dr. Chase will make an incision across the top of the head, just above the hairline. Excess skin, fat and portions of the muscle are then removed through the incision, which is then closed with clips or sutures. Forehead and brow lifts may be performed alone, or along with other procedures such as a facelift or eyelid surgery. Newer procedures to lift the brows through smaller incisions (concealed in the scalp) are becoming increasingly popular.
Most patients are on their feet in a couple of days, and back to work within two weeks. Strenuous exertion, which increases your blood pressure, should be avoided for about a month, along with prolonged exposure to heat or the sun.

Ear "Pinning"
Ears that appear to stick out or are overly large can be helped by ear surgery. Ear surgery, or Otoplasty, is usually done to set prominent ears back closer to head or to reduce the size of large ears. This operation can be performed on children and adults who feel ridiculed or self concious about the appearance of their ears. After Ear Surgery the patient should expect to have a bulky bandage on their head for a few days. After this bandage is removed a bandage that resembles a head band will be worn, especially at night to protect the fragile post-operative condition of the ears. Activities that could bend the ears should be avoided for at least a month after surgery.

Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid Lift (or blepharoplasty) is the preferred treatment for removing bags under the eyes or drooping eyelids, conditions that can add years to your appearance and even impair your vision.
Eyelid surgery may be performed under local anesthesia with sedation in an outpatient surgery center. Dr. Chase will make tiny incisions along the natural lines of your eyelids, through which excess fat, skin and muscle are removed. The incisions are closed with fine sutures, which will leave scars that are practically invisible.
Most patients are back to their normal routines within days, although complete recovery may take a few weeks. Swelling, bruising and some discomfort are part of the recovery process, and usually can be alleviated with cold compresses and appropriate medication.

Cosmetic Injectables
Cosmetic injectables are temporary ways of reducing the appearance of wrinkles on the face. Botox, Restylane, and Radiesse are offered at Chase Plastic Surgery. Botox is used to reduce wrinkles of the forehead and around the eyes. Smile lines around the nose and mouth can be reduced by dermal fillers such as Restylane or Radiesse.

Dermabrasion
Dermabrasion helps "refinish" the top layers of skin through controlled surgical scraping. Treatments of dermabrasion soften the sharp edges of irregularities in the surface of the skin, which gives the skin a smoother appearance. Dermabrasion is most often used to smooth out facial wrinkles(i.e. those around the mouth), to improve the appearance of facial skin which may have been scarred by accidents, deep acne or previous surgery. It can also be used to remove pre-cancerous growths called keratoses.
The length of time dermabrasion takes depends on the amount of facial skin that is desired to be treated. The range of time for the procedure could be anywhere from couple of minutes to an hour.
