LASER

Imperfections can appear on our skin and include wrinkles, scars, brown spots and more. A Fractional Laser can help to improve and remove such imperfections. It works by treating the deep dermis as well as the skins surface. Using a laser microbeam to remove columns of deep tissue into the layers of the skin. This stimulates new collagen growth to improve the appearance of wrinkles, scars and fine lines. A larger laser beam is used on the upper layer of skin to remove dark pigmentation spots and promote new skin regeneration which results in improvement of fine lines and texture.

Following the procedure your skin will appear as though you were sunburned. A skin care regimen will be given by our office in the days after your treatment and as your skin heals. Skin is very sensitive to sunlight after this procedure so sunscreen is necessary to protect your new skin. Continued improvement can be expected for up to six months.

DERMABRASION

Dermabrasion helps “refinish” the top layers of skin through controlled surgical scraping. Treatments of dermabrasion soften the sharp edges of irregularities in the surface of the skin, which gives the skin a smoother appearance. Dermabrasion is most often used to smooth out facial wrinkles (i.e. those around the mouth), to improve the appearance of facial skin which may have been scarred by accidents, deep acne or previous surgery. It can also be used to remove pre-cancerous growths called keratoses.

The length of time dermabrasion takes depends on the amount of facial skin that is desired to be treated. The range of time for the procedure could be anywhere from a couple of minutes to an hour.

CHEMICAL PEELS

Chemical peels can effectively improve many skin conditions including blotchy pigmentation, sun damage, fine wrinkles and shallow acne scars. There are many different types of peels, each using a different chemical to create a peeling effect. TCA and Jessner peels are the most common used. Several treatments may be needed to obtain your maximum results.

The chemical is applied to your skin and is usually associated with 2-3 minutes of a burning or stinging sensation. This causes the top layer of your skin to dry up and peel off over a period of several days. The new layer underneath has a smoother texture and more even color. Most people take off 5-7 days to recover. The healing process generally doesn’t involve pain but the skin looks like it has had a severe sunburn. Anyone who has had a peel is more sensitive to the sunlight for 6-8 weeks and are encouraged to protect the new skin with sunscreen and hats. This procedure can be performed in the office.

COSMETIC INJECTABLES

Cosmetic injectables are temporary ways of reducing the appearance of wrinkles on the face. Botox, Dysport Restylane are offered at Chase Plastic Surgery. Botox or Dysport are used to reduce wrinkles of the forehead and around the eyes. Smile lines around the nose and mouth can be reduced by dermal fillers such as Restylane or Hyaluronic Acid.

There is little to no down time after these injections.
